OPEN RESEARCH JOURNALS

The Open Research Society is running a number of publications that promote the vision of open knowledge and open access. The first pillar of Open Research strategy of ORS concerning publications relates with the planning, launch, management and offer to the society of the OPEN RESEARCH JOURNALS series.

The Open Research Journals are the official Publications of the OPEN RESEARCH SOCIETY. We will try in the next couple pages to summarize some key points.

EDITORIAL BOARDS.

OPEN RESEARCH JOURNALS have open editorial boards and a pool of reviewers that respect the principles of the OPEN RESEARCH SOCIETY. The members of the editorial boards are members or supporters and have been selected according to specific and high quality criteria.

For each journal there is a well defined “editorial” structure. This is presented below:

EDITORS IN CHIEF
Every Journal has maximum 3 Co-Editors in Chief which must be Associate or Full Professors. Editors in Chief decide the strategy for the journal in close accordance with the OPEN RESEARCH SOCIETY publication strategy.

REGIONAL EDITORS
- EUROPE EDITOR IN CHIEF
- AMERICAS EDITOR IN CHIEF
- AFRICA EDITOR IN CHIEF
- ASIA EDITOR IN CHIEF
- OCEANIA EDITOR IN CHIEF

ASSOCIATE EDITORS
In each journal there are 5-8 Associate Editors for the main scientific subdomains of the discipline that the journal covers. Associate Editors are people that at least hold a PhD for 5 years, with an academic high quality profile.

EDITORIAL BOARD MEMBERS

Each Journal has an open editorial board. The requirement for serving as an EB member is to hold a Ph.D and/or to have at least 3 publications in scientific international journals.

REVIEWERS

In each journal beyond the editorial board there is also a complementary Pool oF Reviewers. A reviewer at least must pursue a Ph.D and currently being in the last year of studies, or having 5 publications in International Conferences.

Three key objectives and three principles of OPEN RESEARCH JOURNALS. We will provide briefly some explanations.

FAST EXCELLENT REVIEWS

HOW?
It is really too simple. We make it by applying 3 simple principles:

1. The Editorial and Review Board Members respect this principle. All the EB members are active and deliver fast track excellent quality reviews in maximum one week after the assignment of the article to them.

2. We have an excellent quality Professional Executive Review Board. The members of this EXECUTIVE REVIEW BOARD have a compensation and give back their review in maximum 5 days from the receipt of the article.

3. Review Bid Model.
We apply a simple method. Instead of assigning articles to reviewers as usual we have a call for reviewing. All members are requested to review according to their availability and expertise and 4 of them are assigned to each article while 2 more EXECUTIVE REVIEWERS are also monitoring the process.

REVIEW TIME: MINIMUM 6 DAYS - MAXIMUM 4 WEEKS REVIEW
PRODUCTION TIME: MINIMUM 7 DAYS MAXIMUM 2 MONTHS
PUBLICATION TIME: MAXIMUM 3 MONTHS

COMMUNITY ENHANCEMENT MODEL
The OPEN RESEARCH SOCIETY has a key principle. The ultimate judgment for the quality of a scientific contribution is the community. From this perspective and with the support of Web 2.0 technologies integrated with OPEN ACCESS method, we apply a community enhancement model. The publication of an article in our OPEN RESEARCH JOURNALS links the published work with the community. This is the a challenge for OPEN RESEARCH SOCIETY. To disseminate to the highest possible degree the published articles and to apply a community rating. We build constructively collaborative filtering for the published articles. All published articles are open to our online forums and a rating mechanism is used to assign to each paper a “VALUE” in the model of Web 2.0 applications like del.icio.us. etc.

Further more we will work hard to include all our open research journals in the major scientific journals indexes, included prestigious ISI SCI, SSCI, JCR Ranking of Thomson Scientific.

We will pay the maximum attention to meet all the well documented requirements including:

- Excellent Quality of the Editorial Board
- International Coverage
- On Time Publication
- Excellent Quality Peer Review
- Citations in other ISI listed journals and proceedings.

We must make it clear that we are not competing PUBLISHERS. This initiative is just promoting the principles of our SOCIETY.
