The AMERICAN COLLEGE OF GREECE The 1st World Summit on the Knowledge Society is hosted by the AMERICAN COLLEGE OF GREECE, in the Aghia Paraskevi Campus. Our warmest appreciation, respect and thank you to the President of the American College of Greece, Dr. David G. Horner, and Lila Mordochae, Associate Dean, School of Business Administration, for their support and critical contribution to the success of the WSKS 2008. A great thank you also to the Head of CIS department in The American College of Greece, Jenny Vagianou and to all the members of the CIS Society for their efforts to make this event an unforgetable experience to all the participants. DOWLOAD THIS TRAVEL GUIDE: [CLICK] Plan your Travel The following links are very useful: The closest metro station to he venue is Pallini: 1.5 klm distance. You can take many buses from there to take you to Aghia Paraskevi Square. Attention: You must take buses in the direction to Athens Center. So you can use the attiko metro page to see the best way to use metro system to get close to the venue: http://www.amel.gr/index.php?id=77&=&L=1 This is the search engine: here OASA: Athens Urban Transport Organization [Bus Lines] ATTIKO METRO: The Athens Metro System Maps of Attiko Metro for Downloading: Here 1. YOU ARE ARRIVING IN AIRPORT Please refer to this map- You can have an idea on how to get to the center using public transportation system In the Map Aghia Paraskevi Square close to venue is mentioned as: AG. PARASKEVIS SQ. 2. ->TO THE VENUE Bus Lines for the Venue or Close to the Venue:Aghia Paraskevi If you choose a hotel in the center or close to the center: B5 Line: Takes you 100meters from Venue A good way to reach ACG college is this: 1. You choose a hotel in the center 2. You take Metro and you get off in ETHNIKI AMINA station in max 5 minutes 3. From Ethniki Amina you take a bus from the list below and in 10 minutes you are in Aghia Paraskevi Square. [You can take a taxi also from the Ethinki Amina Station to ACG, the cost is maximum 4 euros]. 4. From there you walk 10 minutes and you are in the Venue / or you take a taxi from square=3 euros The bus lines you can use from Ethini Amina to go to the Aghia Paraskevi Square are the following: From this list if you get any fo the following [they departure from Ethniki Amina]: RECOMMENDATION: Download and Print some of the maps provided by OASA 3. YOU WANT TO SPEND SOME TIME FOR RELAXING RECOMMENDATION 1: Historical Center / Sintagma / Ermou / Psiri / Thision / Acropolis/ Makrigianni Use Metro Station and get off to Sintagma Square, or Monastiraki, or Acropolis Station. Through the pedestrian road you can walk around Acropolis hill. More info: 4. Where to stay A simple note: The venue is located in a place that can be reached from the center and the east coast of Attica. For selecting a hotel there is a simple truth: the prices in the center are a bit higher than the prices in hotels of "equal" quality in east coast. Also the center provides many "benefits" but also is close to traffic, noise etc. So the general suggestion is: 1. You select a hotel in the east coast of Attika which is about 12-15 klm from the venue and: It is by the sea, is quite you can combine it with relaxing, and hotels are cheaper. Also in that direction you never find traffic so for the 12 klm it takes about maximum 15 minutes. The disadvantages of this choice are: The public transportation network is not that good. But you can cover some of the transportation cost with the save from hotel prices. A taxi from there takes approximately 12 euros to the venue. If you wish also to rent a car the price is about 25-30 euros per day [you can ask secretariat of conference for options]. 2. You stay in the center and the area that is close to venue. The prices of hotels are a bit higher but there are many options for hotels of different prices. Below you will find some suggestions.
September is the best month maybe to visit Greece. You can enjoy the best service in best prices. Our recommendation concerning hotels includes 4 hotels in the East Attica in a range 10-15 klm from the Elefterios Venizelos Airport. A special discount has been agreed with these hotels. AGHIA PARASKEVI is located 10klm from the Center of Athens, Omonia Square. It is also 3 klm away from the Ethniki Amina, Metro Station of Athens. So in general participants have two options for accomodation: 1. Stay in a hotel close to the center, and being able to spend time on Plaka Square, Kolonaki, Lycabettus Hill, Acropolis or 2. Stay in a hotel in the east coast of Attica, like Mati, Rafina, Nea Makri. In the first case there are a number of economic rate hotels like: [we have asked and confirm a discount in these hotels. If you wish to book on these hotels drop a mail to Katerina Pitsa for giving you advice] ΤOP Suggestions: 1.
